PRP injections

Doctor-led platelet-rich plasma treatment for joints, hair restoration and skin quality, prepared and planned with clinical governance.

A considered, doctor-led pathway

Every specialty pathway at Mew Medical is designed around clinical suitability, patient understanding and careful follow-up. The emphasis is on measured recommendations, realistic expectations and a treatment plan that feels bespoke rather than transactional.

What PRP is designed to do
A doctor-led plan is created before treatment, including suitability, expectations and review timing.

What PRP is designed to do

PRP uses a concentrated preparation of your own platelets, taken from a blood sample and processed in clinic. Platelets release signalling factors involved in healing and tissue response, which is why PRP is used in selected regenerative and aesthetic treatment plans.

The treatment is not a universal cure and outcomes vary. At Mew Medical, we position PRP as a clinically assessed option with realistic counselling, careful preparation and clear aftercare rather than a trend-led injection.

How we assess suitability

Your doctor reviews your concern, medical history, medication, previous treatments and goals. For musculoskeletal PRP, this may include discussing imaging, duration of symptoms and rehabilitation. For hair or skin PRP, we assess pattern, severity and whether other causes should be investigated.

This assessment matters because PRP works best when the indication is appropriate. Some patients may benefit from a course; others may need alternative treatment, blood testing, referral or a combined plan.

How we assess suitability
Clinical assessment helps decide whether PRP is suitable, or whether another route would be more appropriate.
Treatment and aftercare
Aftercare is structured around the area treated, expected recovery and planned review points.

Treatment and aftercare

A blood sample is taken, processed using a controlled centrifuge protocol, and prepared for injection using sterile technique. The injection approach depends on the treatment area, tissue target and clinical indication.

Aftercare is tailored to the treatment. Joint or tendon PRP may require activity modification, while hair and skin protocols usually involve planned courses and review points. We provide written guidance so patients know what to expect and when to contact us.
